Are there any specialist estate agents that arrange rented properties. Would it be better to arrive and then arrange or do this before.

There are no specialist rental agencies. Most of the estate agents do deal with rental property but I think the majority is arranged privately, by word of mouth. Nothing seems to stay empty for very long unless the is something wrong or it is over priced. For this reason it is best to be here to look at property and agree a rental immediately. Now is probably a good time for empty property as many people leave the island at the end of the summer season. However hotels are mostly closed in the winter but beds are still available. Try the Strada Marina http://www.stradamarina.gr it is the main hotel open all the year.

Hi
my name is natalie and I have lived here with my family since december and we love it.
Yes the winter is quiet but we lived in the country side before moving so are used to it.
My sister has been living here since 2003 and we have been coming here since so knew the Island.
My son aged 6 is in a school and loves it, he is picking greek up very fast!
the only problem we have faced is renting we are currently paying 500 pm for a 3/4 bed but we are having problems with our neighbours/landlords and the diesle bill has been extremely high at 300 pm in the cold months.
If anyone knows of a HOUSE for rent min 3 beds with enclosed gardens as we have dogs (who are trained not to bark at all hours) lol around the kalamaki area we are willing to pay up to 400 pm.
thanks
